On and after December 31, 2005, the Tax Collector of the Borough of Edgeworth shall be paid, as compensation for the collection by such Tax Collector of Borough taxes based on the assessed valuation of all property situate within the Borough and Borough taxes on occupations within the Borough, an annual salary of $4,500, to be paid pro rata on a monthly basis or at such other times as determined by the Borough Manager, which shall be the sole compensation payable to the Tax Collector for the collection of said taxes of the Borough of Edgeworth; provided, however, that the Borough of Edgeworth shall pay the Tax Collector's actual and needful expenditures for printing, postage, books, blanks and forms.
Council recognizes the ability of the Tax Collector to deputize a third-party agency to perform all or some of the duties of the office. In such an event, Council will generally agree to pay the deputy collector directly and reduce the salary of the elected Tax Collector by the amounts paid to the deputy collector which the Borough otherwise would have paid to the elected Tax Collector; provided, however, that Council's direct payment will be subject to Council's obtaining any written agreements it deems necessary; and provided further that in no event will the combined compensation paid to the elected and deputy collectors exceed the amounts which would otherwise have been paid under § 28-1.
