This chapter is enacted to assist emergency personnel responding to calls within the Borough and to promote the health, safety and general welfare of the inhabitants of Bonneauville Borough.

As used in this chapter the following terms shall have the meaning indicated unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context:
BUSINESS UNIT
A parcel of real estate, with improvements located thereon, utilized by a person for any commercial activity or purpose.
DWELLING UNIT
A parcel of real estate, with improvements located thereon, used for living and sleeping purposes by one or more families or by one or more person.
PERSON
An individual, partnership, association, firm or corporation.
STREET NUMBER
That number which has been assigned to the property by the Borough and is used as the property's mailing address.
VISIBLE
The numbers will be deemed visible from the public road if the numbers are Arabic numerals or alphabet numbers, at least four inches in height, with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch, of contrasting color, and are secured to the structure and to both sides of the mailbox servicing the property. The numbers shall not be obstructed by trees, shrubbery or any type of landscaping and must be clearly visible from the road both day and night.

Within 60 days of the effective date of this chapter, each person owning a business unit or dwelling unit shall place street numbers on their property in a manner that such numbers are visible from the public roadway.
If any owner of a business unit or a dwelling fails to comply with the provisions of § 66-3, the Secretary of the Borough Council shall cause a letter to be sent by first-class mail giving the owner 15 days to comply.

Any person who remains in violation of § 66-3 after having received 15 days' notice from the Borough Council Secretary shall, upon conviction in a summary proceeding under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure, be guilty of a summary offense and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000, plus court costs and reasonable attorneys' fees incurred by the Borough in the enforcement proceedings. Upon judgment against any person by summary conviction, or by proceedings by summons on default of the payment of the fine or penalty imposed and the costs, the defendant may be sentenced and committed to the county correctional facility for a period not exceeding 30 days. Each day that such violation exists shall constitute a separate offense, and each section of this chapter that is violated shall also constitute a separate offense. In addition to or in lieu of enforcement under this section, the Borough may enforce this chapter in equity in the Court of Common Pleas of Adams County.
