When any of the above holidays falls on a Saturday, the holiday will be observed either the preceding Friday or the following Monday, to be determined by the department head. A holiday falling on Sunday will be observed the following Monday. Holidays are not cumulative.
C. 
In addition to the above holidays, with the exception of newly hired employees, highway employees are granted 16 personal hours per year. Each non-highway employee is granted 12 personal hours per year. Newly hired full-time highway employees will be granted 16 personal hours upon completion of a three-month probationary period. Newly hired full-time non-highway employees will be granted 12 personal hours upon completion of a three-month probationary period. The department head will approve personal hours by the needs of the department.
D. 
After five years of employment, each highway employee is granted eight additional personal hours per year. Each non-highway employee is granted six additional personal hours per year.

A. 
Highway employees shall be granted eight hours of sick time and non-highway employees shall be granted six hours of sick time per month of employment for the first 11 months of the year and may accumulate up to 960 hours of sick time. To qualify, an employee must have a doctor's authorization after being incapacitated more than two days.
B. 
The Town Board of the Town of Greenwich hereby adopts a Sick Leave Incentive Plan whereby at the time of retirement a lump sum payment would be calculated by multiplying the number of unused sick hours (maximum 960 hours) by the employee's rate of pay, then the employee would receive 20% of this figure in a lump-sum payment.
Beginning January 1, 1983, disability insurance for highway employees will be covered by the Town of Greenwich. Employees will contribute $0.30 per week for this coverage. Disability benefits coverage shall be as follows:

Seven calendar day waiting period,
B. 
Benefits payable for 26 weeks,
C. 
Benefits based on 50% of gross salary, not to exceed $170 per week.

Work hours shall be 40 hours per week for highway employees, with specific times to be determined by the Highway Superintendent. Work hours shall be 30 hours per week for non-highway employees with specific times to be determined by the department head.

A. 
Any time actually worked in excess of 40 hours in a work week shall be compensated for by overtime pay at a rate of time and one-half. The following paid benefit days will be considered as time worked for the purpose of computation of overtime pay: holidays, vacation, sick, bereavement and personal leave.
B. 
A highway full-time employee called in for emergency duty not connected to regular work hours shall be paid a minimum of 2.5 hours at the applicable rate.
C. 
Full-time employees shall have first refusal on available overtime hours. Upon refusal by all full-time employees, the Superintendent of Highways may offer the hours to qualified part-time substitute employees.

A. 
Employees that are volunteer emergency responders will be permitted to respond to a fire or emergency during the normal work day without any reduction of their normal pay. This provision applies to emergency situations only and is not intended to apply to administrative or other duties that are able to be performed during non-Town working hours. Additionally, the following conditions must also apply:
(1) 
The employee must be an active volunteer for either an emergency ambulance service or for a fire company located in or serving the Town of Greenwich.
(2) 
The call for assistance must come from an ambulance service or fire company located in or serving the Town of Greenwich and must be related to an emergency within the Town of Greenwich.
(3) 
During work hours the employee must first notify his or her department head or foreman before responding to the call.
(4) 
If there is no crucial need for the employee to remain at work then the employee will be allowed to leave work to respond to the call.
(5) 
If the call occurs during non-work hours and the emergency extends into normal working hours, every effort should be made by the employee to notify his or her department head as soon as is reasonable.
(6) 
Once the emergency is over, the employee shall return to work during normal work hours.
(7) 
The Town of Greenwich shall not be liable in any way for employees who respond to calls in accordance with this policy.
B. 
For employees who are American Red Cross-certified emergency service volunteers, the Town will provide paid leave for 20 days per year for time spent participating in authorized disaster relief services.

An employee may have up to three days off, not chargeable to sick leave, for the death of the employee's spouse, parents and grandparents, children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, mother-in-law and father-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law. Adopted and step members are also included in immediate family.

B. 
Vacation time is not cumulative and is granted by seniority.
(1) 
All employees shall choose their vacations for the calendar year no later than April 30 of that year. There shall be no more than one employee on vacation at any time, either a single day or full weeks. The weeks or days chosen and approved will be logged on a calendar-year record and posted at the Town Garage and Town Office. Any changes will be submitted to the Highway Superintendent or department head in writing on a vacation change form. The vacation change form shall be submitted to the Highway Superintendent or department head no later than two weeks prior to the change. After approval, the Highway Superintendent or department head will submit the request to the clerk to the Supervisor for office recording. Any emergency changes will be approved at the discretion of the Highway Superintendent or department head.
(2) 
Vacations will be granted by seniority starting with the most senior to the most junior employee.
(3) 
All vacation time will be taken entirely by December 31 of each calendar year. There is no carrying over of vacation time.
(4) 
All vacation time is to be used before an employee leaves employment.
(5) 
Any employee who is on vacation and is called in to perform work shall be paid for vacation hours at a straight-time rate. Emergency call-ins are at the discretion of the Highway Superintendent.

All full-time Town employees are required to be members of the New York State Retirement System.

The Town adopts the Employee Assistance Program through Washington County. The program is available to all full-time employees.
Town of Greenwich employees shall report to and remain at work free from impairment caused by the use of illegal drugs or alcohol. Town employees shall refrain from use of illegal drugs or alcohol while on duty. While serving in a designated "sensitive" position, employees shall submit to mandatory reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol tests according to established procedures.

A. 
Any new full-time employee shall serve a probationary period of three months. For highway employees, during the probationary period the rate of pay shall be the laborer rate. Thereafter, the employee rate of pay will be the following motor equipment operator rates:
(1) 
One-year anniversary: $17.50 per hour.
(2) 
Two-year anniversary: $18.50 per hour.
(3) 
Three-year anniversary: $19.50 per hour.
(4) 
Four-year anniversary: $20.50 per hour.
(5) 
Five-year anniversary: full motor equipment operator rate.
B. 
The laborer rate, motor equipment operator rate and motor equipment operator foreman rate are established at the Annual Meeting of the Town Board.

The Town will provide back belts for all highway employees to wear during working hours. All highway employees will wear safety shoes during working hours. After the three-month probationary period, all full-time highway employees will be reimbursed $600 per year for safety shoes and work clothes upon receipt of proof of payment. Receipts must be submitted prior to December 15 in each year for expenses incurred during that year. The Town will provide overshoes and safety glasses for highway employees (beginning January 1, 2020).
