Every building being or fronting upon any of the public streets
or alleys in the Borough of Lehighton shall be numbered in the manner
hereinafter provided. The owner of every such building shall place
the correct number or numbers upon the front of the property,
conspicuously located so as to be visible from the street. Such numbers
shall be plain and distinct, and each number shall be at least three
inches in clear height of figure.
The buildings in the borough shall be numbered according to
the following system: north and south from South and Mahoning Streets
and east and west from First Street, counting 100 numbers to each
square and allowing one number for every 16 1/2 feet, except
in cases where any square would be too long, in which case the numbering
shall continue in the next hundred until the first intersecting street.
Even numbers shall be placed on the west side of the streets running
north and south, and odd numbers shall be placed on the east side
thereof. Even numbers shall be placed on the north side of streets
running east and west, and odd numbers shall be placed on the south
side thereof.
Any person, firm or corporation refusing or neglecting to comply
with any of the provisions of this chapter within 30 days after notice
thereof from the borough shall be guilty of a violation of this chapter
and, upon conviction thereof before any District Justice, shall be
subject to a fine of not less than $10 nor more than $600 and costs
of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs,
to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 30 days.
