As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
A vehicle, commonly known as a "house trailer," designed to be used
for living, sleeping or office purposes and which is so designed that it is
or may be mounted on wheels and used as a conveyance through its own or other
mode of power.
Any camp trailer, travel trailer or other unit built or mounted on
a vehicle or chassis designed without permanent foundation, which is for temporary
dwelling or sleeping purposes, but shall not include any vehicles which are
too long or too heavy to be towed by an ordinary passenger automobile.
A person whose principal occupation is that of construction or related
trades.
A.
No person shall allow the parking, locating, keeping
or maintaining of any trailer or camping vehicle upon any lands owned by him
within the Township except as provided in this chapter.
B.
No person shall park, locate, keep or maintain a trailer
within the Township, except that:
(1)
A trailer owned, leased or lawfully possessed by a visitor
to a resident of the Township may be kept on such resident's property
for a period not to exceed 14 days within any thirty-day period, provided
that the trailer is not used for living or sleeping purposes while on the
property.
(2)
A trailer may be parked or located in an enclosed building
so that the trailer is wholly obscured from view at any point outside the
building, provided that the trailer is not used for living or sleeping purposes
while so parked or located.
C.
No person shall park, locate, keep or maintain a camping
vehicle within the Township, other than in a duly licensed campground, except
under the following circumstances:
(1)
A camping vehicle owned, leased or lawfully possessed
by a visitor to a resident of the Township may be kept on the resident's
property for a period not to exceed 14 days within any thirty-day period,
provided that the camping vehicle shall not be used for living or sleeping
purposes while on the property.
(2)
A camping vehicle owned, leased or lawfully possessed
by a resident of the Township may be kept on the resident's property,
provided that it is either wholly housed or wholly obscured from the view
of neighbors and of all adjoining public roads by a buffer consisting of shrubbery,
translucent paneling or some other suitable material. A camping vehicle shall
under no circumstances be used for living or sleeping purposes while on such
property.
D.
A trailer which was located, kept or maintained within
the Township on July 3, 1962, may continue to be located, kept or maintained
until such time as the trailer is moved from the location or site where it
was located on July 3, 1962, provided that the trailer was registered by the
owner with the Tax Assessor of the Township within 30 days after July 3, 1962.
E.
Subject to the provisions of Subsection D above, any certificate or registration heretofore issued for keeping or maintaining any trailer located in the Township on July 3, 1962, and each and every agreement made by the holder of the certificate in the application therefor, shall continue in full force and effect.
F.
No new certificate of registration for keeping or maintaining a trailer in the Township shall be issued except as provided in Subsection G below, and no such certificate heretofore issued for any trailer shall be assigned to any other trailer.
G.
A contractor requiring the temporary use of a trailer
for office purposes in connection with any bona fide construction or related
trades contract or project undertaken by him in the Township shall make written
application to the Township Clerk on forms provided for such purpose, accompanied
by payment of an application fee of $5, for a temporary certificate for such
use of the trailer. The certificate shall be valid until the contract or project
has been completed or one year has elapsed from the date of issuance of the
certificate, whichever occurs first. The contractor shall apply for a new
certificate of use if needed.
H.
No person shall use a trailer for any purpose other than
that for which it is originally registered and classified.
