Editor's Note: This ordinance was vetoed by
the Mayor; said veto was overridden. The ordinance also provided for
the repeal of former Art. IX, Alternate Side-to-Side Parking and Snow
Emergency Routes, added 12-12-1994 by Ord. No. 446, as amended..
A.
Authority of Mayor to declare snow emergency. In order to further
facilitate the movement of traffic and to combat the hazards of snow
and ice on the snow emergency routes named below, the Mayor, in his
discretion, or in his absence, Council President or Vice President,
as per the Pennsylvania Borough Code, may declare a snow and ice emergency
(designated in this article as a "snow emergency"). Information on
the existence of a snow emergency may be given by the Borough through
radio, newspaper, television or other available media, and information
on the termination of the snow emergency may be given by use of the
same media.
[Amended 10-27-2014 by Ord. No. 617-2014]
B.
Travel restrictions. After any snow emergency is declared,
it shall be unlawful, at any time during the continuance of the emergency,
for any person to drive or operate any motor vehicle on any such snow
emergency route, unless that vehicle is equipped with snow fires or
chains. All-weather tires will be considered as snow tires for purposes
of this subsection. After any snow emergency is declared, it shall
be unlawful, at any time during the continuance of the emergency,
for any person to park any motor vehicle on any such snow emergency
route.
[Amended 2-11-2019 by Ord. No. 651-2019]
