The Mayor of the Township of Blairstown is hereby authorized to close any street or portion thereof to motor vehicle traffic on any day or days or during specified hours on any day or days whenever he/she or she finds that such closing is necessary for the preservation of the public safety, health or welfare.
In the event of such a street closing, the Mayor shall:
A. 
Direct the appropriate person in charge of streets within the municipality to post proper warning signs of such closing in any street or portion thereof during the time the street is closed; and
B. 
Notify the Township Police Department of said closing.
No individual shall be permitted to operate a motor vehicle on any street or portion thereof which has been closed pursuant to this article. Any violation of this article shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.
