There is hereby created in the Village of Patchogue
the Department of Code Enforcement.
The Mayor, with the consent of the Board of
Trustees, may appoint as many code enforcement officers as he shall
determine to be necessary and may designate a person to be the head
of the Department of Code Enforcement. The Department of Code Enforcement
shall also consist of housing inspectors, building inspectors and
parking meter collectors of the Village of Patchogue. The term of
office of the head of the Department and of any officer of said Department,
if not otherwise established by law, shall be a period of one year,
coinciding with the official year of the Village of Patchogue.
The Department of Code Enforcement shall be
responsible for the enforcement of all provisions of the Code of the
Village of Patchogue and any and all other resolutions, local laws,
ordinances and regulations enacted by the Board of Trustees of the
Incorporated Village of Patchogue at any time.

In addition to the general administrative duties
incumbent upon all department heads of the Village of Patchogue, the
head of the Department of Code Enforcement shall be directly responsible
to the Commissioner of Code Enforcement. At each meeting of the Board
of Trustees, the head of said Department shall make a report to the
Board of Trustees. Said report shall include a summary of all code
enforcement activities in the period elapsing between the date of
the report and the previous report delivered.

The Division shall have the following responsibilities: enforcement
of parking regulations of the Village of Patchogue and removal of
abandoned vehicles, regarding public streets, public parking lots,
railroad station, parks and beaches and other sites so regulated by
the parking provisions of the Code of the Village of Patchogue; patrol
and protection of the buildings, properties, parks, facilities and
other realty of the Village, as well as railroad station and surrounding
parking facilities located within the Village; and the performance
of other duties as may be deemed necessary by the Board of Trustees
or the Director of the Department to provide for code enforcement
and the general security of the Village government in the proper conduct
of Village business.
