[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Patchogue 10-11-1965 by Ord. No. 4.11 of the Unified Code of Ordinances of 1960 (Ch. 39 of the 1968 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
GENERAL REFERENCES
Licenses and permits — See Ch. 255.
Streets and sidewalks — See Ch. 372.
No person shall use the public streets of the Incorporated Village of Patchogue either above the said public street or on or beneath the said public street for the purpose of maintaining cables or wires through which electronic signals are intended to be transmitted to public or privately owned television receivers, without having first received from the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Patchogue a franchise for the said use of the Village streets; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to a person regulated by the New York State Public Service Commission or by the Federal Communications Commission.
No person shall operate commercially a community antenna system business within the Village of Patchogue without first having obtained a license therefor from the Village. Any person who shall offer his services to any inhabitant or other person within the Village for the purpose of furnishing television signals through coaxial cables or other wires shall be deemed to be operating a community antenna system business within the Village whether or not he maintains an office for doing business within the Village.
Every applicant for license must comply with the provisions of Chapter 255 of this Code.
It shall be in the sole discretion of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Patchogue to grant any license. The Board of Trustees shall not be required to consider anything more than the general welfare of the citizens of the Village of Patchogue in granting or refusing to grant such a license.
The license fee to be paid upon the granting of a license shall be in an amount as set from time to time by resolution of the Board of Trustees[2] for each year or fraction thereof.

Each license issued shall be renewable annually as of the first of January by the applicant reapplying and payment of the license fee.
A license under this chapter may be suspended or revoked for cause after a hearing by the Board of Trustees.
Any person who violates this chapter or fails to comply with any of its requirements shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalties provided in § 1-1 of the Code of the Village of Patchogue.
