[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Kent 5-17-1965 by L.L. No. 1-1965; amended in its entirety 10-19-2009 by L.L. No. 5-2009. Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]
No local law shall be adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Kent until a public hearing has been held thereon before such Town Board not less than five days after public notice has been given of the time and place of the holding of such public hearing. Such notice shall be given by the Town Clerk by causing the same to be published once in the official newspaper of the Town and on the Town Clerk's bulletin board. Such notice shall contain the title of the proposed local law and a brief explanatory statement thereof if the title does not provide a brief explanation.
A. 
Copies of a proposed local law for which a hearing has been set shall be available from the Town Clerk's office upon request no later than the day such notice is published for inspection by and distribution to any interested person during business hours. Copies of the proposed local law shall also be posted on the Town's website at least five days in advance of the public hearing; however, failure to so post on the Town's website shall not affect the validity of the local law if adopted.
B. 
Copies of any local law adopted by the Town Board shall be available from the Town Clerk's office upon request for inspection by and distribution to any interested person no later than the second business day after the law is adopted.
C. 
The Town Board may impose a fee for copies distributed to an interested person under § 10-2B and C, above, not to exceed that charged for copies distributed by the Town in response to requests received pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law. There shall be no charge for inspection of copies under § 10-2B and C, above.
Proof of publication of the notice of public hearing in the Town's official newspaper required by § 10-1 hereof shall be filed in the office of the Town Clerk.
