As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
BUILDING
The principal structure on a lot of land used or intended
to be used as a dwelling, place of business or industry, or for the
use of the public.
The survey, plan and system for the numbering
of lots and buildings, prepared by the House Numbering Committee appointed
for the purpose by the Board of Supervisors, a copy of which is hereto
annexed and made a part hereof, is hereby adopted and approved.
On and after the 29th day of March 1955, it
shall be the duty of each and every owner, trustee, lessee, agent
and occupant of every building in the Township of Upper Southampton
to affix thereto and maintain thereon or elsewhere upon the property
in the manner prescribed by this chapter, a number to be assigned
to it by the Zoning Officer in accordance with the plan and system
of numbering as herein prescribed.
For the purpose of the numbering system and
plan prescribed by this chapter, a system of north-to-south and east-to-west
numbered parallel lines is established on the map of the Township
spaced 750 feet apart, of which the north-to-south lines so spaced
and numbered are parallel to Davisville Road, and the east-to-west
lines are spaced and numbered parallel to County Line Road, so that
respectively all streets or roads, laid out parallel to Davisville
Road, shall be deemed for the purpose of assigning numbers north-south
thoroughfares and those laid out parallel to County Line Road shall
be deemed east-west thoroughfares. Streets laid out diagonally more
north to south than otherwise shall be deemed as north-south streets;
all others diagonally laid out shall be deemed east-west streets.
