Upon receipt of the new assigned address, each resident and/or property
owner of any and all commercial and residential properties shall place the
address over or near the primary entrance which is most visible for emergency
personnel. The numbers must be legible, not less than three inches high, and
in a color which contrasts to the building background. Reflective numbers
are recommended, although they are optional.
Each resident or property owner of a commercial or residential property
which maintains a mailbox shall also place legible numbers on each side of
said mailbox. If a mailbox is in a row of mailboxes, the numbers should appear
on the front of the mailbox. Owners should also comply with all requirements
of the postal service regarding any additional guidelines concerning mailbox
identification.
Buildings, whether commercial or residential, which are erected after
the adoption of this chapter shall be in the future assigned a number in accordance
with the property numbering maps, and each said owner shall purchase and display
such number as provided for in this chapter upon the erection of any residence
or commercial building.
It shall be unlawful for any person to deface, either intentionally
or recklessly, any numbers placed on any mailboxes, residence or commercial
buildings as provided in this chapter.
