This article is enacted pursuant to § 328 of the Real
Property Tax Law.
A.
From
and after January 1, 1987, the elected Board of Assessors of the Town
of Pompey shall be replaced by a sole appointed Assessor.
B.
Such
Assessor shall be appointed as provided in § 310 of the
Real Property Tax Law.
C.
This
article shall be subject to a permissive referendum as provided in
§ 24 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
D.
Upon
the expiration of 45 days after the adoption of this article or, if
submitted for approval to the electors of the Town of Pompey, upon
approval of this article by such electors, the term of office of each
elected Assessor shall terminate on December 31, 1986, which date
is not more than one year after the adoption of this article.
