[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Williston Park 5-20-1991 by L.L. No. 6-1991 (Ch. 36 of the 1975 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
SECURITY GATE
A barrier, screen or cover located in front of or behind any door, window or other opening used for purposes of securing premises by preventing access or blocking passage to the interior of the premises. A security gate shall be deemed to include gates or doors that may also be referred to as roll-up gates, roll-up doors, roll-up grills, roll-up shutters, rolling doors or folding gates.
No owner or occupant of any property shall install or maintain on any building or structure within the Village of Williston Park a security gate or door of any make, manufacture, design or material, provided that this chapter shall not apply to any security gate used in connection with village-owned property.
Any security gate presently existing shall be removed within five years following the adoption of this chapter, it being the intention of this chapter to fix the removal of such security gate within a period of time permitting the owner and user thereof the amortization of investment for the purchase and installation of such gate prior to the enactment of this chapter, unless an extension of time is granted by the Board of Appeals subject to such safeguards and conditions as it may deem proper.
Any violation of this chapter shall constitute a violation punishable as provided in Chapter 1, §§ 1-18 and 1-19 of this Code.
