As used in this article, the following words shall have the meanings indicated:
ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
The individual appointed by the Supervisors of Independence Township to enforce the provisions of the Act and of this article.
THE ACT
The Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act of January 24, 1966 (1965) 1535; 35 P.S. ยงย 750.1 et seq.

No person shall install an individual or community sewage disposal system, or construct any building in Independence Township in which an individual or community sewage disposal system is to be installed without first obtaining a permit indicating that the site, plans and specifications of said system are in compliance with the Act[1] and the rules and regulations adopted pursuant to the Act. A fee in an amount that shall be determined from time to time by resolution by the Board of Supervisors of the Township shall be paid to the Township Sewage Enforcement Officer at the time of making application for an individual or community sewage disposal system. Permits for individual or community sewage systems are required for rural residences as defined by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Any dumping or discharge of raw sewage into the streams or onto the surface of any land within the Township of Independence is prohibited in the interest of the health and sanitation of the residents of Independence Township.

Any person, partnership or corporation, who or which shall violate ยงย 163-3 of this article, shall be subject to the appropriate penalties set forth in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article II.
