Pursuant to the Revised Statutes of New Jersey 40:49-5.1, the Borough of Runnemede does hereby adopt the Building Code as set forth in certain regulations, three copies of which are on file in the office of the Borough Clerk of the Borough of Runnemede, being the current editions and any supplements and/or amendments thereto marked and designated as the "Abridged Building Code" and the "Basic Building Code," approved by the Building Officials Conference of America, Inc., for regulating the erection, construction, reconstruction, repair, moving, demolition and maintenance of buildings and structures of the Borough of Runnemede, and each and all of the regulations, penalties, provisions, conditions and terms of said current Abridged Building Code and Basic Building Code, as amended and/or supplemented and approved by the Building Officials Conference of America, Inc., on file in the office of the Borough Clerk, are hereby referred to, adopted, incorporated and made a part hereof as if fully set forth in this chapter, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed in § 99-3 of this chapter.
Ordinance No. 12 of the Borough of Runnemede, entitled "Building Code," adopted May 31, 1927, and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.

A. 
The aforementioned Abridged Building Code and Basic Building Code are hereby amended as follows:
(1) 
Page 1. The regulations shall be known and cited as the "Building Code of the Borough of Runnemede."
(2) 
Page 8. Delete Section 104.0.
(3) 
Page 9. The state referred to shall be the State of New Jersey.
(4) 
Page 10. Fines and fees referred to shall be as follows:
(a) 
It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, use, occupy or maintain any building or structure in violation of any provision of this code or to cause, permit or suffer any such violation to be committed. Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any terms or provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days or a fine not exceeding $500, or both. Each day that a violation of any of the terms or provisions of this chapter shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.
(b) 
The Construction Code Official shall be compensated for his services as provided by the Salary Ordinance of the Borough of Runnemede.

Page 10. Paragraph 104.3, which refers to a building permit as being void unless operations are commenced within "six months" from date of approval, is to be changed to "three months" and also, a permit shall be void after a period of one year from date of issuance when a building is not completed within that time, and a new permit will then be required to complete said building as required herein.

Page 11. The state referred to shall be the State of New Jersey.

Page 12. The date referred to shall be October 12, 1953.

Roof sheathing on any dwelling or structure shall consist of at least one-inch boards or approved one-half-inch waterproofed plywood, and all joints must be catted.[1]
