No person shall commit any act which tends to
endanger the public peace.
No person other than a public official in the
performance of his duties shall post, paint or fasten any notice or
advertisement upon any private wall, building, gate, fence or billboard
or upon any rocks or structures without the consent of the owner thereof.
No person shall post, paint or fasten any notice
or advertisement upon any curb, sidewalk, retaining wall, pole, tree
or elsewhere in a public place unless a permit therefor has been obtained
from the Board of Commissioners.
No person shall solicit, from house to house
or in any public street, park or public place, the gift of money,
clothing or other thing for his own use.
No person shall conduct, take part in or aid
or abet in any unlawful prizefight or boxing contest.
No person shall attach or cause to be attached
to any tree, telegraph pole, sign, billboard, post or fence any circular,
card or pamphlet.
No person shall take part in or aid, abet or
assist in a disorderly assemblage. A "disorderly assemblage" is any
two or more persons gathered together and acting in a boisterous,
offensive or threatening manner towards each other or committing acts
which are a breach of the peace or which tend to create a breach of
the peace.
No person shall maintain or aid, assist or abet
the maintenance of a disorderly house.
It shall be unlawful for two or more persons
to fight together or to commit or attempt to commit assaults and batteries
on each other, either in public or in a private place, or for any
person to present and aid, assist or abet the same.
No person shall discharge firearms within the
Village. The provisions of this section shall not apply to firearms
discharged in or on any duly authorized range or firearms discharged
by a peace officer in the line of duty.
No person shall maintain or aid, assist or abet
the maintenance of a house of ill fame.
Hunting within the Village is prohibited.
No person shall commit any lewd or immoral act
in any building or in any other public or private place.
No person shall interrupt or disturb any meeting,
congregation or assembly or any religious services.
It shall be unlawful for any person under the
age of 18 years to have in his possession or to use any gun, pistol
or other weapon of similar nature designed to eject a bullet, shot
or other missile.
No person shall interfere with the proceedings
of the Municipal Court or use any offensive or abusive language to
the Judge of the Municipal Court while holding any session of the
Municipal Court.
No person shall appear in any street or public
place in a state of nudity.
A. No person shall, without just cause, utter or expose
to the view or hearing of another, or possess with intent to utter
or expose to the view or hearing of another, any obscene or indecent
book, publication, pamphlet or picture or any mechanical or electronic
recording on a record, tape, wire or other device or other representation,
however made; nor shall any person sell, import, print, publish, loan,
give away or distribute, or possess with intent to sell, print, publish,
loan, give away, design, prepare, distribute or offer for sale, any
obscene or indecent book, publication, pamphlet, picture or other
representation, however made; nor shall any person in any way advertise
the same; nor shall any person, in any manner, whether by recommendation
against its use or otherwise, give any information as to how or where
the same may be had, seen, heard, bought or sold.
B. For the purposes of this section, the term "obscene"
shall mean that which, to the average person, applying contemporary
community standards, when considered as a whole, has as its dominant
theme an appeal to prurient interests.
No person shall obstruct the access to any public
building or any part thereof.
No person shall obstruct passage through or
upon any public street, park or other public place, except in compliance
with other provisions of this Code or other Village ordinances.
No person shall utter any loud and profane,
obscene, indecent, lewd, threatening, abusive or offensive language
in any public street or public place, public conveyance or place to
which the public is invited.
No person shall forcibly interfere with any
member of the Police Department or the Fire Department or any officer
of the Village in the performance of his duties or prevent or attempt
to prevent any member of the Police Department or the Fire Department
or other officer of the Village from performing his duty.
No person shall interfere with, deface, break,
injure, destroy or mutilate any public property.
No person shall expectorate in or upon any public
place or public conveyance, except in a suitable receptacle provided
for such purpose. Any person violating the provisions of this section
shall be fined not more than $25.
No person shall break, injure or destroy any
of the street lamps, bulbs or lights or the brackets or poles to which
the same are attached.
It shall be unlawful for any person to be a
vagrant, as defined in this section. For the purposes of this section,
a "vagrant" is defined as a person without visible means of support,
who is idle and though able to work for his maintenance refuses to
do so but lives without labor or on the charity of others.
No person shall knowingly give, send or cause
to be given or sent a false fire alarm.
No person other than a public official or a
member of the Fire Department in the performance of his duties shall
open any fire hydrant in any of the public streets or public places
of the Village.

A. No person, including any individual or entity, shall
engage in the business of selling a product known as "silly string"
on any of the public streets or public places or from any business
conducted in the Village of Ridgefield Park between the dates of May
15 and July 15 of any year.
B. "Silly string" is hereby defined as a putty-like substance
which is shot and/or propelled by use of an aerosol can and/or similar
dispenser and which, when so shot/propelled, emerges from said can/dispenser
in a string-like form, the same being sold under the product name
of "silly string" and/or other product names.
C. Any person, individual or entity who or which engages in the business of selling silly string to another person in the Village of Ridgefield Park between the dates of May 15 and July 15 of any year shall be punishable, upon conviction, as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
II, General Penalty.

No person shall urinate or defecate in any public
place or street. For purposes of this section, the term "public place"
shall be deemed to include public parks; any school property of the
Ridgefield Park school system; any place or property that the Board
of Education of the Village has under its supervision, control or
management; the quasi-public area in front of or adjacent to any store,
shop, restaurant, luncheonette or other place of business; and shall
include also any parking lot or other vacant private property not
owned by or under the domain of the person charged with a violation
of this section.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this chapter shall be punishable, upon conviction, as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
II, General Penalty.
