It is the purpose of this article to expand the residency requirements of the position of Acting Village Justice so as to provide the Board of Trustees with a larger list of qualified candidates for said office. The Board recognizes the importance of the Acting Village Justice position and the need for retaining the services of a well-qualified individual for said position.
The Acting Village Justice of the Village of Montgomery shall be a resident of Orange County, New York, and shall meet all other qualifications for said office as provided by law.
