There shall be established a full-time police department in and for the Borough of Quarryville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

A. 
The Quarryville Borough Police Department shall consist of some or all of the following personnel positions:
(1) 
Chief.
(2) 
Sergeant.
(3) 
Corporal.
(4) 
Police officers.
B. 
Such patrol officers as Quarryville Borough Council shall from time to time designate by resolution.
Quarryville Borough Council shall from time to time determine the number of personnel in the above categories as set forth in § 53-2 herein as required to conduct the police affairs of the Borough.
All members of the Quarryville Borough Police Department shall perform their respective duties as set forth in the Borough Code and shall be directed by the Mayor as to the manner in which they shall perform their duties.
In the event of any emergency, the Mayor is hereby empowered to appoint sufficient special police to insure the health, safety and welfare of the public, which appointment shall be ratified by Quarryville Borough Council prior to payment of any compensation to any such special police.
