It shall be unlawful for any person to stand
or place or to cause to be stood or placed any boxes, barrels, lumber,
brick, stone, sand, gravel, goods, merchandise, wares, garbage, rubbish,
debris or material of any kind or description on or over any street
or sidewalk.
It shall be the duty of all persons owning,
controlling or occupying any property abutting, adjoining or fronting
any sidewalk to remove snow, sleet, hail or ice therefrom within 24
hours after the same has ceased to fall or accumulate thereon. It
shall be unlawful for any person owning, controlling or occupying
property abutting, adjoining or fronting any sidewalk to suffer, allow
or permit any snow, sleet, hail or ice to accumulate or remain on
such sidewalk for a period longer than 24 hours after the same has
ceased to fall or accumulate thereon or after the same has been deposited
thereon in any manner.
It shall be unlawful for any person to plow,
shovel, throw, cast or otherwise place or deposit or cause to be placed
or deposited in or onto any sidewalk, street or Township property
any snow, sleet, hail or ice for any purpose including, but not limited
to, for the purpose of clearing parking lots, driveways, driveway
entrances or sidewalks.
Any person who violates any provision of this
article may be given notice by the Township of Bethlehem directing
compliance herewith and, in the event such person fails to comply
with said notice, the Township of Bethlehem may take such action as
may be necessary to cure such failure and the costs thereof may be
recovered from such person in the manner provided by law. These remedial
costs shall be recoverable in addition to and not in lieu of any penalty
provided herein or by other law.
Any person who violates any provision of this
article shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine
of not more than $300 and costs and, in default of payment of said
fine and costs, imprisoned for a period not in excess of 90 days.
