The following words, when used in this article, shall have the following definitions except where the context clearly indicates otherwise:
EMERGENCY VEHICLE
A fire department Vehicle, police vehicle, ambulance, blood-delivery vehicle, armed forces emergency vehicle, or a vehicle used for answering emergency calls, or other vehicle designated by the State Police under § 6106 of the Vehicle Code (relating to designation of emergency vehicles by Pennsylvania State Police).[1]
MOTOR VEHICLE
Any vehicle or combination which is defined and/or governed by the Vehicle Code, 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 101 et seq., as amended.
SCHOOL BUS
A motor vehicle designed for carrying more than 10 passengers, exclusive of the driver, and used for the transportation of school children.

A. 
On the following bridges and streets or parts of streets, by authority granted by Section 4902(a) of the Vehicle Code,[1] it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to drive any vehicle or combination having a gross weight in excess of the maximum prescribed below for that bridge or street or part of street, as the case may be:

B. 
Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be prosecuted under Section 4902(a) and (g-1) of the Vehicle Code,[2] and, upon conviction shall be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight, and costs.

B. 
Penalties.
(1) 
Any person who violates the weight limit restrictions of this section shall be prosecuted under Section 4902(a) and (g-1) of the Vehicle Code,[2] and upon conviction, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus $150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight, and costs.

(2) 
Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be prosecuted under Section 4902(a) and (g-1) of the Vehicle Code,[3] and upon conviction, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of $75 and costs.

C. 
Exclusions. The following motor vehicles shall be exempt from the restrictions imposed hereunder:
(1) 
School buses, provided they meet the weight requirement limitations.
(2) 
Emergency vehicles.
(3) 
Vehicles making local deliveries or pickups.
(4) 
Vehicles which violate the limitations on axles solely because they include:
(a) 
A utility wagon not exceeding 25 feet in length; or
(b) 
A wagon or other farm implement intended for agricultural use; or
(c) 
A camper or other recreational vehicle.
(5) 
Buses shall not be subject to the twenty-five-foot length requirement, provided that they meet the weight limitations of Subsection A.

A. 
The Board of Commissioners may issue permits for the movement of motor vehicles or combinations of size, weight and axles in excess of the restrictions imposed under this article, and require such undertaking or security as the Board of Commissioners deems necessary to cover the cost of anticipated or probable repairs or restoration necessitated by the permitted movement of vehicles.
B. 
All actions taken under the authority of this section shall be taken in accordance with the rules and regulations adopted from time to time by the Board of Commissioners and, in the absence thereof, in accordance with the rules and regulations adopted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as found in Title 67 of the Pennsylvania Code.

By reason of hazardous traffic conditions and other safety factors, by authority granted by Section 4902(b) of the Vehicle Code,[1] it shall be unlawful for any person to drive any vehicle or combination in violation of the restriction prescribed below for that bridge or street or part of street.

B. 
Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be prosecuted under Section 4902(b) and (g-1) of the Vehicle Code,[2] and, upon conviction, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $25 and not more than $100 and costs.

A. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle other than a passenger car on any of the following streets or parts of streets; provided, nothing in this section shall prohibit any person from driving on any of those streets or parts of streets a truck or other commercial vehicle making local deliveries to or pickups from premises located along that street or part of a street.
B. 
Any person who violates any provision of this section shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs.
