The Town does hereby adopt the provisions of C.G.S. § 9-199, so that each political party may nominate two candidates for the Board of Assessment Appeals and the electors may vote for the full number of members of the Board of Assessment Appeals to be elected in those years in which the Board of Assessment Appeals has that number of vacancies.

The Town of Norfolk hereby provides for the appointment by the Board of Selectmen of one certified Assessor, whose term shall be terminable at the will of the Board of Selectmen. The qualifications for holding this appointment and the compensation therefor shall be set by the Board of Selectmen appointing the Assessor.[1]

Editor's Note: The amending ordinance adopted at 9-21-2004 STM also provided that the terms of Assessors in office as of 9-21-2004 shall terminate upon the appointment by the Board of Selectmen of such Assessor.

The Board of Selectmen may appoint an alternate for each member of the Board of Assessment Appeals. Each alternate shall be an elector of the Town. When seated, an alternate member shall have all the powers and duties of a member of the Board of Assessment Appeals. The terms of each alternate will be until the next municipal election, and thereafter the terms will be one for two years, one for three years, and one for four years.
