[Adopted at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I)]
The intent of this article is to define permitted locations for the parking of commercial vehicles within residential areas of the Town of Grand Island such that neighborhood quality and character are maintained.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
- COMMERCIAL VEHICLE
- Any motor vehicle, truck tractor, trailer, or truck exceeding 18,000 pounds gross vehicle weight used for commercial purposes.
- FRONT YARD
- An open space which lies between the principal building or group of buildings and the front lot line or front setback line. In case of a corner lot or a through lot, the "front-yard" shall be the yards front on any street.
- REAR YARD
- An open space extending the full width of the lot between a principal building and the rear lot line.
- SIDE YARD
- An open space extending from the front yard to the rear yard between a principal building and the nearest side lot line, unoccupied and unobstructed from the ground upward.
In addition to any other applicable requirements, commercial vehicles shall not be parked outdoors in any residential district, or on any property lawfully used for residential purposes unless:
The commercial vehicle is located behind the front yard setback as defined in Chapter 407, Zoning; or
The commercial vehicle is being used incidental to work being performed at the location where it is temporarily parked for a period of five or fewer days and the commercial vehicle is located within the front yard setback as defined in Chapter 407, Zoning, provided it is located:
Any person or entity that violates a provision of this article shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine not exceeding $250 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both.
