There shall be in the City of Hudson an office known as the "Building Inspector."
Such officer shall be initially appointed by the Mayor at an annual salary to be established by the Common Council.
It shall be the duty of the Building Inspector to coordinate and implement the compliance with the Zoning Ordinance[1] and Housing Code and the Building Code heretofore adopted by the Common Council and particularly as follows:
A. 
To make periodic inspections.
B. 
To enforce the Building, Housing and Zoning Ordinances, keep records of violations, see that the violations are corrected and to take any and all necessary steps provided by law to insure compliance with such codes and ordinances.
C. 
To maintain records of inspections, violations and notices issued and to make written monthly reports to the Mayor.

The appointment of the Building Inspector shall be for a probationary period of six months, pending passing of the civil service examination.
The position of the Building Inspector shall be a full-time position filled by the Mayor from the civil service list. He shall be a resident of the City of Hudson.[1]
