Week nights. No child under the age of 16 years shall be in or upon
any of the streets, parks or public places in the City in the nighttime,
after the hour of 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
or Thursday nights, unless such child is accompanied by their parent,
guardian, or other person having legal care or control of such child.
B.Â
Weekends. No child under the age of 16 years shall be in or upon
any of the streets, parks or public places in the City in the nighttime
after the hours of 12:00 midnight on Friday or Saturday night, unless
such child is accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other persons
having legal care or control of such child.
Any parents, guardian or other adult person having the legal care and custody of any child under the age of 16 years shall not allow or permit such child or ward under such age to go to or be in or upon any of the streets, parks, or public places in the City after the hours prescribed in § 113-1 on the days mentioned therein.
The Chief of Police or in their absence the police officer in
charge of the Police Department is hereby vested with the discretionary
power to exempt members of organized youth groups attending functions
sponsored by such groups and approved by the Chief of Police or the
officer in charge of the Police Department, from the operation of
this chapter, upon request of adults in charge of such groups.

Any parent/guardian violating any of the provisions of this
chapter shall be guilty of a violation of the Code of the City of
Cortland, and on conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less
than $100 nor more than $250.
