As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context:
TEMPORARY SPECIAL-OCCASION SIGN
A sign constructed of cloth, canvas, fabric, wood, poster board or other similar material, with or without a structural frame, and intended for a limited period of display by community service, patriotic, civic or charitable organizations.
All temporary special-occasion signs as they are defined in this chapter must be licensed. Possession of a valid license for a temporary special-occasion sign shall entitle the licensee to display temporary signs in accordance with the terms of the license.
The Council shall have the power to approve the display of temporary special-occasion signs on public property by community service, patriotic, civic and charitable organizations.
The application for a license for a temporary special-occasion sign shall be made on a form provided by the Borough Secretary and shall be submitted to Council for approval.
The location, size and duration of display of the temporary special-occasion sign shall be designated by Council.
No sign shall exceed 12 square feet in area.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $300 and/or to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days. Each day that a violation of this article continues shall constitute a separate offense.
