This article is ordained and enacted pursuant to The Second Class Township Code, Section 1507 (53 P.S. § 66507) and Section 2301 (53 P.S. § 67301) and the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act of December 19, 1996, P.L. 1158, Act No. 177, § 1 (53 Pa.C.S.A. § 2301 et seq.) whereby two or more local governments may jointly cooperate in the exercise of their respective governmental functions.
The Township of Derry, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, is hereby authorized to enter into and execute that intergovernmental agreement, substantially in the form attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference,[1] with the Township of Granville, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, and thereby perform general maintenance, patching and winter maintenance on the roads therein listed as located in the Township of Granville and receive compensation therefor and for the Township of Granville to perform general maintenance, patching and winter maintenance on those roads listed therein situated in the Township of Derry, and pay the Township of Granville compensation therefor.

Any actions taken or monies expended heretofore by the Township of Derry and its Supervisors, Manager/Secretary, Treasurer and its agents and employees in relation to the general maintenance of those roads which are the subject of this intergovernmental agreement are hereby ratified and confirmed.
The appropriate officers of the Township of Derry are hereby authorized to execute said agreement and any other documents and to take those actions necessary and appropriate to effectuate the intent of this article.
