BUILDING
Any dwelling, house, store, factory or other permanent structure.
NUMBER
Numerals and not numbers written in script or cursive.
The owner or owners of each building in the Township shall affix the properly assigned number or numbers to some conspicuous place on the building so as to be plainly visible and readable from the curbline. Numbers shall be a minimum of three inches in height and of a color contrasting with the background color. In lieu of placing the properly assigned number or numbers on the building, the properly assigned number or numbers may be placed on a sign or post within five feet from the curbline and within a radius of no more than five feet from the intersection of the building's driveway meeting the street. The assigned number or numbers placed on such a post or sign must be a minimum of 20 inches off the ground and must be plainly visible and readable from the middle of the street. Numbers written in script or cursive shall not be deemed to satisfy the requirements of this chapter.
It shall be the duty of the owner or owners of any parcel of real estate upon which any building now exists or may hereafter be erected to obtain from the Township Engineering Office the correct number and to affix the correct street number to each building.
A.
The owner of any building may request the renumbering of any building by filing a petition with the Council. The petition shall be accompanied by a prepared map showing the desired changes and clearly showing how the numbers for the entire block would stand in case such renumbering is ordered.
B.
At least 10 days prior to the presentation of this petition to the Township Council, a copy of the petition, together with a notice of intention to apply to the Council, shall be served upon all owners of property fronting on the block and published in all official newspapers of the Township.
C.
The petition presented to the Council shall be accompanied by proof, in affidavit form, showing notification compliance.
This chapter shall be enforced by the Police Department, Fire Department and Construction Code Official, the members of which shall be authorized to issue summonses for violations thereof. Any person who shall violate any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a minimum fine of $100.
