There is created a Department of Codes Enforcement.

The head of the Department of Codes Enforcement is the Commissioner
of Codes Enforcement. The Commissioner shall be appointed by the Mayor
at such compensation as approved by the Board of Estimate and Apportionment
as provided by law and to serve at the Mayor's pleasure. The Commissioner
of Codes Enforcement shall:
(1) Through the Department of Codes Enforcement enforce all applicable
building, housing, demolition, electrical and plumbing codes and the
like to include, but not limited to, local, state, and federal codes
that may be applicable.
(2) Coordinate physical information made by the Department.
(3) The Commissioner shall review the plumbing application process as
well as the examination process upon receipt of a written complaint
of any applicant receiving the of said application and examination
and thereafter make such recommendations, if any, to the Plumbing
Board as the Commissioner may deem to be appropriate.
(4) Perform
any other related or incidental duties as may be required to the Mayor
or Common Council.

In the manner provided by law, the Commissioner of Codes Enforcement
may appoint and assign duties to such staff and employees as may be
necessary to assist in the performance of the duties of the Department
of Codes Enforcement. Compensation for employees shall be as approved
by the Board of Estimate and Apportionment as provided for by law.
