This chapter shall be entitled "Local Law No. 4-2009 of 2009 of the Incorporated Village of Islandia, a Local Law Creating Chapter
80 of the Islandia Village Code Containing Regulations Regarding Flood Management."
Pursuant to § 10 of the Home Rule Law and the Village
Law of the State of New York, the Incorporated Village of Islandia,
County of Suffolk and State of New York, hereby enacts by this chapter
Number 4-2009 of 2009, a chapter of the Village of Islandia.
This chapter shall take effect on the filing of the approved
chapter with the Secretary of State of New York, which shall be within
20 days after its approval by the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated
Village of Islandia.
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Islandia finds that
the potential and/or actual damages from flooding and erosion may
be a problem to the residents of the Village of Islandia and that
such damages may include destruction or loss of private and public
housing, damage to public facilities, both publicly and privately
owned, and injury to and loss of human life. In order to minimize
the threat of such damages and to achieve the purposes and objectives
hereinafter set forth, this chapter is adopted.
