[Adopted 7-10-2006 by Ord. No. 239; amended in its entirety 9-8-2008 by Ord. No. 245 (Ch. 6, Art. I, of the 2003 Code of Ordinances)]
The purpose of this ordinance is to adopt the 2006 Editions of the Michigan Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Residential (One- and Two-Family Dwellings), Existing Building, the International Energy Conservation, Private Sewage Disposal, Property Maintenance, Fire and Fuel Gas Codes and the 2006 Edition of the National Electric Code in the interests of the health, safety and welfare of the public in compliance with and pursuant to Act 245 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1999, as amended.[1]

A. 
The Village hereby adopts the:
(1) 
Michigan Building Code, 2006 Edition;
(2) 
Michigan Plumbing Code, 2006 Edition;
(3) 
Michigan Mechanical Code, 2006 Edition;
(4) 
Michigan Residential Code (One- and Two-Family Dwellings), 2006 Edition;
(5) 
Michigan Existing Buildings Code, 2006 Edition;
(6) 
International Energy Conservation Code, 2006 Edition;
(7) 
International Private Sewage Disposal Code, 2006 Edition;
(8) 
International Property Maintenance Code, 2006 Edition;
(9) 
International Fire Code, 2006 Edition;
(10) 
International Fuel Gas Code, 2006 Edition; and
(11) 
National Electric Code, 2006 Edition.
B. 
In addition, any and all subsequent code change as referenced above be adopted by the Village at the same time as they are by the State of Michigan or the federal government.

Pursuant to Section 8b of Act 230 of the Public Acts of 1972 (MCLA § 125.1508b), as amended, the Village building inspectors are designated as the enforcing agency to discharge the responsibilities of the Village under Public Act No. 230 of 1972 (MCLA § 125.1509 et seq), as amended. The Village assumes responsibility for the administration and enforcement of such act throughout its corporate limits.
