In no event shall any person keep in or upon his/her premises more animals than can be properly maintained in a healthy and sanitary condition without presenting a health or safety hazard to the owners, keeper or others or without constituting a nuisance to the occupants of neighboring properties.

1. 
No person shall keep any wild or exotic animal within the Township unless such possession is authorized by federal or state law and has been registered with the Animal Control Officer or Police Department.
2. 
It is unlawful for any person to keep or harbor within the Township any venomous snakes, reptiles, fish, amphibians and arachnids.
3. 
It shall be required for the owner(s) of any constrictor snake of six feet or more in length and all members of alligator, crocodile and caiman families to be registered with the Animal Control Officer or Police Department. Chapter 2, Part 5, of this chapter shall take effect immediately upon final passage thereof and publication thereof as provided for by law.
4. 
Exceptions. The provisions of this section shall not apply to:
A. 
Animals that are safely and continuously contained during uninterrupted transport through the Township or to a veterinary hospital.
B. 
Animals in the possession and control of a humane society.
C. 
A person or organization that has obtained the proper state and/or federal permits to possess such animal.
D. 
Private zoological park or garden which is open to the public and is accredited by the American Association of Zoological Parks and Aquariums.
E. 
Nationally recognized circus.

Any owner of any animal, upon the death of such animal, shall immediately dispose of the carcass by incineration, burying at least two feet below the surface of the ground or other authorized method of disposal; however, nothing in this section shall prohibit the disposal of such animal carcass to companies licensed to do business in this state. It is unlawful to dispose of the carcass of any animal by dumping or allowing such carcass to remain on any public or private property. Any owner of any animal shall be responsible for the costs of disposing of the animal in instances where the Township disposes of the animal due to any emergency or the owner's failure to act.

Any person, organization, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this Part 5, upon conviction thereof in an action brought before a Magisterial District Judge in the manner provided for the enforcement of summary offenses under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $500, plus costs, and, in default of payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 90 days. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day or part of each day during which a violation occurs or continues.
