A Bureau of Fire Prevention in the Fire Department of the Village of Farmingdale is hereby established, to be operated under the supervision of the Fire Commissioners of the Village of Farmingdale, pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Section 1.2 of the Nassau County Fire Prevention Ordinance.[1]

The members of such Fire Prevention Bureau shall consist of the Fire Chief of the Fire Department, the First and Second Assistant Fire Chiefs and as many inspectors as the Chief of the Department deems it advisable to appoint.

It shall be the duty of the Fire Prevention Bureau, subject to the direction and control of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Village of Farmingdale, to enforce the provisions of the Nassau County Fire Prevention Ordinance[1] and all amendments thereto, the ordinances of the Village of Farmingdale and the statutes of the State of New York governing the prevention of fires.

The Nassau County Fire Prevention Ordinance contains regulations on fire inspections, flammable liquids and gases, hazardous operations and businesses, exits, combustible accumulations and materials burning, smoking and heating equipment and also requires compliance with the National Electrical Code.
The members of the Fire Prevention Bureau shall be reimbursed for disbursements actually incurred by them in the performance of their duties, together with compensation for time lost while necessarily attending court in the performance of their duties, pursuant to such rules as may be established by the Board of Fire Commissioners and within the limits of the annual budgetary appropriation which may hereafter be made by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Farmingdale.
