There shall be created the positions of Borough Code Enforcement Officer and Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee in the Borough of Edgewater. The number of staff in these positions may be determined by the Mayor and Council from time to time as it may deem necessary to promote the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Borough.
Persons holding the positions of Borough Code Enforcement Officer and Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee shall be appointed by the governing body.
A. 
It shall be the responsibility of each person holding the position of Borough Code Enforcement Officer and Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee to enforce the following enumerated ordinances as set forth in the Code of the Borough of Edgewater:

Chapter 129, Art. I, Dogs.
(2) 
Chapter 293, Parks and Recreation Areas.
(3) 
Chapter 314, Property Maintenance.
(4) 
Chapter 380, Streets and Sidewalks.
B. 
It shall also be the responsibility of each Borough Code Enforcement Officer and/or Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee to enforce any and all ordinances of the Edgewater Board of Health as authorized by ordinance or resolution of the Board of Health.
C. 
Although the primary responsibility of each Borough Code Enforcement Officer and/or Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee shall be enforcing the above-enumerated ordinances, other municipal employees and officials may and shall also enforce said ordinances, and the delegation of this enforcement duty to each Borough Code Enforcement Officer or Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee shall not preclude others from enforcing said ordinances.
The salary and the amount of hours to be worked by each Borough Code Enforcement Officer or Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee shall be fixed by the Mayor and Council.

Persons holding the position of the Borough Code Enforcement Officer or Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee shall be under the supervision of the Borough Administrator. The work schedule of these positions shall be determined by the Borough Administrator. The Borough Administrator has the authority to adjust the work schedule for these positions as he/she deems necessary in order to promote the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Borough.
The Borough Code Enforcement Officer and Borough Code Enforcement Officer Trainee shall submit a written report to the governing body each calendar month or whenever requested.
