There are hereby created the positions of Purchasing Agent, Assistant Purchasing Agent and Purchasing Assistant.
The Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council, shall appoint the Purchasing Agent, Assistant Purchasing Agent and the Purchasing Assistant.
A. 
The Purchasing Agent shall act as the Borough Purchasing Agent, set up a central purchasing system, and be responsible for monitoring all Borough purchasing activities to assure that purchases are made in accordance with statutory requirements. The Purchasing Agent is assigned the authority, responsibility and accountability for the purchasing activities of the contracting unit. This system shall be established in order to provide a current record of all budgetary accounts and to assure the availability of funds for purchases in accordance with the budget. When directed by the governing body, the Purchasing Agent shall provide a report of purchasing activities and statutes. The Purchasing Agent shall issue rules and regulations governing the requisition and purchase of all municipal supplies and equipment, as deemed necessary.
B. 
The Assistant Purchasing Agent and the Purchasing Assistant shall perform such duties as shall be designated by the Mayor and Council.
The salaries of the Purchasing Agent, Assistant Purchasing Agent and the Purchasing Assistant shall be set forth in accordance with the Salary Ordinance of the Borough of Edgewater.
