There is hereby created and established the position of Emergency Medical Technician within the Borough of Edgewater. An Emergency Medical Technician shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough Council. The number of persons appointed to such position shall be as authorized from time to time by resolution adopted by the Mayor and Council.
A person appointed to the position of Emergency Medical Technician shall hold the following licenses and certifications:
A. 
A driver's license valid in the State of New Jersey.
B. 
A current and valid Emergency Medical Technician certification issued by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
C. 
A current and valid CPR certification (community level or professional level) issued by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or the National Safety Council.

A person appointed to the position of Emergency Medical Technician shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be designated by the Chief of Police and/or Police Director or Mayor and Council.
The salary of the position of Emergency Medical Technician shall be as set forth in the current annual Salary Ordinance of the Borough of Edgewater.
