The Municipal Police Cooperative Agreement dated December 28,
1988, and executed by the Mayor and Chief of Police, is hereby ratified
and incorporated herein by reference thereto.
The purpose and objectives of the agreement are:
A. To enhance the coordination of drug investigations in the Luzerne
County area;
B. To provide for mutual police aid across jurisdictional lines to enable
police to more effectively enforce the provisions of narcotics and
illegal drug laws and thereby to preserve the safety and welfare of
the entire area; and
C. To have available for use throughout the territorial limits of all
municipalities signing the mutual agreement, and known as the Mid-Valley
Drug Task Force, the services of police employed by any and all of
the signatories of the said agreement, under the conditions set forth
and in compliance with the Municipal Police Jurisdiction Act, 42 Pa.C.S.A.
§ 8953.
The Municipal Police Cooperative Agreement shall be subject
to all conditions and terms as specified therein, and the agreement
is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference thereto and
includes the manner and extent of financing the agreement, the organizational
structure necessary to implement the agreement, the powers and scope
of the authority delegated in the agreement, and the manner in which
property, real or personal, shall be acquired, managed or disposed
of.
The duration of the agreement, attached hereto and made a part
hereof by reference thereto, shall be indefinite and subject to termination
by the City of Nanticoke as provided in said agreement.
