There is hereby created the office of Municipal Prosecutor of the Borough of Edgewater.

The Municipal Prosecutor shall be an attorney at law of the State of New Jersey and shall prosecute on behalf of the Borough of Edgewater any case to be tried before the Municipal Judge of the Borough of Edgewater whenever requested by the governing body of the Borough of Edgewater, Borough Attorney, the Chief of Police and/or Police Director of the Borough of Edgewater and the Municipal Judge of the Borough of Edgewater, and the Municipal Prosecutor shall perform such other legal duties as may be assigned to him by the governing body.
The Municipal Prosecutor shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. He shall serve for a period of one year and until his successor is appointed and qualified.

The Municipal Prosecutor shall receive an annual salary as is set forth in the annual Salary Ordinance of the Borough of Edgewater.
