Except as otherwise required by any provision of the Connecticut General Statutes, contracts for the purchases of personal property or for services for the Town and/or Board of Education having a value in excess of $25,000 shall be let by sealed, public bid by the First Selectman or the Board of Education, as the case may be. Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, public bidding shall not be required for the services of attorneys at law, certified public accountants, licensed engineers, architects, physicians or dentists.
