There is hereby established in the Township of Washington the position of Assistant Municipal Superintendent of Public Works, which said position shall be deemed to be nontenured. The position is full-time.
A person holding office, position or employment as full-time Assistant Municipal Superintendent of Public Works who has held this office, position or employment continuously for five years or more shall continue to hold the office, position or employment, notwithstanding he or she is serving for a fixed term, during good behavior and efficiency and shall not be removed therefrom for political or other reasons, except for good cause upon written charges filed by the Municipal Clerk and after a public, fair and impartial hearing. If the current holder of Assistant Municipal Superintendent of Public Works was previously employed as a permanent, full-time employee as a blue-collar worker of the Public Works Department and said position is eliminated for any reason, the holder of the office of the Assistant Municipal Superintendent of Public Works shall return to his or her previously held position within the Public Works Department.
A. 
Compensation for the position of Assistant Municipal Superintendent of Public Works shall be by a salary range established by ordinance adopted and defined in the annual salary resolution.
B. 
Compensatory time will be allowed as detailed in the Policy Manual of Washington Township. Extra hours worked due to storm-related emergencies may be compensated as paid comp time.
Under direction assists the Municipal Superintendent of Public Works in planning, organizing, and directing the programs and activities of the Department of Public Works and may assist in any and all programs relating to public works activities/facilities; does other related duties.
A. 
The Assistant Municipal Superintendent of Public Works must be a high school graduate or hold a high school equivalency certificate.
B. 
The Assistant Municipal Superintendent of Public Works must have a minimum of three years' experience in supervision.
