It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the business
for or operating an establishment where tattooing, body piercing,
ear piercing or the application of permanent cosmetics is performed
as governed by Chapter VII, NJ State Sanitary Code (N.J.A.C. 8:27-1
et seq.) without first obtaining a license from Health Services to
engage in such business in accordance with the provisions concerning
operations and maintenance of the same as contained in the aforementioned
Chapter VIII of the State Sanitary Code.
Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.A.C. 8:27-9.1, establishments
and individuals that pierce the ear lobe only shall be exempt from
the requirements of this article.
