This article shall be entitled "Residence Requirements for Village Treasurer of the Incorporated Village of Sag Harbor, a Local Law Expanding the Residency Requirements of the Office of Treasurer of the Village of Sag Harbor."
Pursuant to § 10 of the Home Rule Law and the Village Law of the State of New York, the Incorporated Village of Sag Harbor, County of Suffolk and State of New York, hereby enacts, by this local law of 2001, a local law of the Village of Sag Harbor.
The purpose and intent of this article is to extend the residency requirements of the office of Village Treasurer of the Village of Sag Harbor so that an individual who is not a resident of the Village but is a resident of Suffolk County may serve in the office of Village Treasurer.
The residency requirement for the office of Village Treasurer is hereby expanded to be that the Treasurer must be a resident of Suffolk County but need not be a resident of the Village of Sag Harbor. "Residence" for purposes of this article shall be the principal domicile of the individual.
