Town of North Hempstead, NY Article II Street Cleaning

§ 49-2 Posting of areas prior to operations required.

The Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized and empowered to post no-parking signs 12 hours in advance of snow removal and street cleaning operations on any highway in the Town of North Hempstead under the jurisdiction of the Superintendent of Highways.

§ 49-3 Parking in posted areas prohibited.

Parking in those areas posted by the Superintendent of Highways as herein provided is prohibited.

§ 49-4 Removal of signs upon completion of operations.

Upon completion of such snow removal and street cleaning operations, all no-parking signs posted, as provided herein, shall be removed by the Superintendent of Highways.

§ 49-5 Definitions.

As used in this chapter, the following words shall have the meanings indicated:

CHAINS

Any metal chains mounted on drive-wheel tires of motor vehicles which cross the tread on each tire laterally in at least three different places.

SNOW TIRES

Any tires mounted on drive wheels of motor vehicles which are especially designed to give effective traction on snow, mud or ice-covered streets by means of extra-heavy-duty treads with special high-traction patterns, except that no tire so defined shall be construed to be a "snow tire" if it is damaged or worn to the extent that its performance would be substantially impaired.
