All maintenance of the building sewer between the building drain and the municipal sanitary sewer is the sole responsibility of the property owner. Routine maintenance includes, but is not limited to, keeping the sewer line free of grease, oil, tree roots, scale and all other foreign materials.
Repair of the building sewer between the building drain and public roadway is the sole responsibility of the property owner. Repairs, including excavation for access to that portion of the building sewer in the public roadway, will be performed by the City or its representative. It shall be the owner’s responsibility to confirm the exact location of the required repair in the building sewer in the roadway to the City’s satisfaction prior to work being performed by the City within the public roadway. The City may charge to the owner the actual costs, including but not limited to all labor, materials and equipment, of any excavation for the repair of the building sewer within the public roadway, if it is determined that such excavation was unnecessary or requires maintenance which is the responsibility of the property owner. All work shall be inspected by the City of Batavia prior to backfill and performed in accordance with appropriate local and state code and regulations.
