Township may grant nonexclusive franchises to construct, install, maintain, extend, and operate a cable communications system in the Township, in accordance with Title VI of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. § 521 et seq.

Township previously entered into a cable television franchise agreement with Comcast extending its nonexclusive franchise agreement to 2017. Township hereby authorizes the entering into of an amendment to the agreement with Comcast, extending its franchise to be coterminus with the franchise granted to Verizon on substantially the terms of the proposed amendment presented to the Township after negotiation between the Township and Comcast.

Township hereby authorizes the entering into of a cable television franchise agreement with Verizon Pennsylvania, Inc., to construct, install, maintain, extend, and operate a cable communications system in the Township to 2020, on substantially the terms of the proposed agreement presented to the Township after negotiation between the Township and Verizon.

If any sentence, clause, section or part of this chapter is, for any reason, found to be unconstitutional, illegal or invalid, such unconstitutionality, illegality or invalidity shall not affect or impair any of the remaining provisions, sentences, clauses, sections or parts hereof. It is hereby declared as the intent of the Township that this chapter would have been adopted had the same not been included herein. All provisions conflicting with any provisions of this chapter are hereby repealed insofar as the same affects this chapter.

This chapter shall be effective five days following enactment, as by law provided.
