It shall be the duty of every person or persons, firm, association
or corporation owning land within the limits of the Village of Huntington
Bay, Suffolk County, New York, to cut, trim or remove brush, grass,
rubbish or weeds growing or existing on such land or cause such grass,
brush, rubbish or weeds to be trimmed or removed, and to keep such
land substantially free from the presence thereon of growing weeds,
brush or rubbish.

Each offense against the provisions of this article shall constitute
a violation pursuant to the Penal Law of the State of New York and
shall be punishable as such. Any person or persons violating any provisions
of this article shall be liable for and pay a fine of not less than
$50 for a conviction on a first offense and not more than $250 for
a conviction on each subsequent offense.
If any such person or persons, firm, association or corporation
owning such land shall, after 10 days' written notice so to do, fail
or neglect to cut, trim or remove such brush, grass, rubbish or weeds
so growing or existing upon the land owned by him, it or them, the
Board of Trustees of the Village of Huntington Bay may cause such
work to be done and assess the expense thereof upon such land. The
notice herein required to be given by this section hereof may be served
by mailing such notice to such owner, addressed to his last known
address.
The notice provided for in the foregoing section shall only
be necessary in a case in which the Village desires to do the work
and assess the expense thereof upon such land, but no notice shall
be required from the Village in order to make any owner of such land
guilty of violation of this article.
