This district is designed to provide for heavier types of manufacturing and industrial uses. This district will be separated by buffer strips where it is adjacent to any residential or commercial district. The regulations are restrictive for this district in order to minimize its incompatibility with other districts.

1. 
Any principal permitted use in the I-1 Industrial District (Light) subject to all the regulations of the I-2 Industrial District (Heavy).
2. 
Machine shops, metal working, electrical, plumbing.
3. 
Mixing plants for concrete and asphalt.
4. 
Metal fabrication, forging, and boiler works.
5. 
Grain elevators, large bulk oil and gasoline storage and service yards.
6. 
Railroad yards, repair shops, roundhouses.
7. 
The manufacture, fabricating and assembly of transportation equipment, agricultural equipment, machinery, paper and cardboard.
8. 
Manufacturing, compounding, assembly, or treatment of articles or merchandise from previously prepared materials such as bone, cloth, cork, fiber, leather, paper, plastics, metals, stone, tobacco, wax, yarns, wool, or wood.
9. 
Electrical, optical and textile manufacturing.
10. 
Wholesale business, welding shops, warehouses, cold storage plants and bottling works.
11. 
Municipal buildings, municipal uses, and firehouses.
12. 
Ceramic products, terra cotta, brick, tile, pottery, stone, clay, sand and glass products.
13. 
Manufacturing of hardware, tools, dyes, and patterns.
14. 
Freight terminal and freight yards, junkyard and auto wrecking establishments.
15. 
Customary accessory uses and buildings incidental to any of the above permitted uses, including signs as specified in Part 18, Signs.

All uses within this zone, with the exception of public pumping stations, shall also comply with the general regulations in Part 16 of this chapter if applicable.
