The County of Suffolk hereby elects to grant disability benefits
to the Sheriff, Undersheriffs, or Deputy Sheriffs who are engaged
directly in criminal law enforcement activities, and correction officers
who are in the employ of the County, pursuant to §§ 63-c,
507-d, and 607-d of the New York Retirement and Social Security Law.
The Clerk of the County Legislature shall file a certified copy
of this article with the New York State Comptroller, accompanied by
an affidavit of the County Executive that the County has received
an estimate from the Retirement System as to the cost of the benefit
provided by this article.
