GENERAL REFERENCES
Vehicles and traffic — See Ch. 221.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
Any mechanically propelled vehicle used for pleasure or recreational
purposes, running on rubber tires, belts, cleats, tracks, skis or
cushion or air and dependent on the ground or surface for travel or
other unimproved terrain, whether covered by ice or snow or not, where
the operator sits in or on the vehicle. ("Operate" and all its moods
and tenses when it refers to an "OHRV" means to use the vehicle in
any manner for transportation.)
No person shall operate an OHRV between the hours of 12:00 midnight
and 7:00 a.m.
No person shall operate an OHRV on the property of another without
first receiving permission from the owner of that property.
No person shall operate an OHRV closer than 300 feet from the
dwelling or business of another, except for purposes of ingress and
egress.
Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter
shall be guilty of a violation and shall be punishable by a fine not
exceeding $500 or imprisoned for not more than 90 days, or both. Such
person shall be deemed to be guilty of a separate offense for each
and every day during any portion of which any violation of this chapter
is committed, continued or permitted by such person and shall be punishable
therefor as provided herein.

No person shall operate an OHRV on land of the City of Laconia,
including beaches owned or controlled by the City, if said land or
beach has been posted with a sign prohibiting said operation, or any
other trespass. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate an
OHRV across land or beaches of the City of Laconia for purposes of
gaining access to any body of water, frozen or otherwise, when expressly
prohibited by posted signs. Violations of this section shall be punishable
by a minimum fine of $100 for each offense, a minimum fine of § 250
in the case of subsequent offenses or offense wherein the practice
of "skimming," so called, consisting of operation of an OHRV over
open leads of water, is proximately involved. All other requirements
of this chapter shall also be complied with.
