It shall be unlawful for any person to carry, without lawful
authority, any air gun, revolver, pistol, or other firearm, or metal
knuckles, dangerous knife, stiletto, bomb or other high explosive
concealed in or about his or her clothes or person or in any portable
vehicle, carriage, motorcycle or other vehicle.
A.Â
For the purposes of this section, a "firearm" shall include any weapon
designed or constructed to discharge a projectile by gunpowder (or
a similar explosive substance), air compression or electromechanical
device.
B.Â
It shall be unlawful for a person to discharge a firearm within the
Town limits of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, unless either:
(1)Â
The person is an officer of the peace, sheriff, police officer, or
other governmental official acting in the lawful discharge of his
or her duty; or
(2)Â
The person discharges the firearm as a method of self-defense, defense
of another person, or defense of property, and that discharge of the
firearm is recognized by Maryland law as a lawful method of utilizing
the firearm for such purposes.
C.Â
Any person or entity violating the provisions of this section shall
be guilty of a municipal infraction and, upon conviction thereof,
is subject to a fine of $500.
